Massage therapy is an ancient therapeutic technique of the manipulation of soft tissues of the body including muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments, and joints. Massage therapy helps alleviate the discomfort associated with everyday occupational stresses, muscular over-use, and many chronic pain conditions.
Registered Massage Therapy?
Massage therapy is hands-on manipulation of tissue involving a range of techniques to treat the soft tissue and joints of the body. Massage therapy prevent, develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function or relieve pain.
While any one can provide massage however, massage therapy should be provided by a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT). An RMT is an individual who has completed a diploma program at a recognized school of massage therapy and who has passed a registration examination offered by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.
Massage therapist performs wide variety of techniques including, deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, Swedish massage therapy and relaxation massage.
