WHAT IS A REGISTERED MASSAGE THERAPIST?
In Ontario, the practice of massage therapy is regulated by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO). Only individuals who are registered with the CMTO and hold the title Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) are legally authorized to provide massage therapy as a healthcare service.
To become an RMT in Ontario, individuals must:
- Complete a recognized massage therapy education program.
- Successfully pass the CMTO certification exams.
- Maintain ongoing professional development and adhere to ethical and practice standards set by the CMTO.
